17417. The Academic Health Center of the Future.Focusing on the case of the academic health center, this paper considers what the organization of the year 2010 will be like. Drawing on concepts from organizational theory, the analysis considers what skills, education, and training will be needed in the academic health center in terms of nurses and nursing. Provides an overview of contemporary environmental challenges to academic health centers. Predicts that the future organization will be a learning organization with considerably more dependence on nurse knowledge workers than contemporary academic health centers.
