17348. Okonkwo in Chinua Achebe’S “Things Fall Apart”.This paper presents an analysis of the character Okonkwo in the novel “Things Fall Apart” by Chinua Achebe. Specifically, the paper addresses the question of whether Okonkwo, in his reactions to the advent of colonial rule in Igbo (Nigerian) society, is a victim of tradition or a victim of his own individualistic ambition. Although Okonkwo’s downfall is clearly related to his efforts to preserve the traditions of his society, it is argued that, ultimately, he is a victim of his own anger, pride, and ambition.
