17169. Communicative Language Tasks in the Interactive Communicative Classroom.
This paper provides an overview and analysis of the scope, components, and sequencing of the communicative language tasks in the interactive communicative classroom. Following a background discussion of the shift to the communicative language approach and a definition of key terms, the literature on task-based instruction within the communicative framework is surveyed. The implications of the research for teachers and students of language instruction are discussed and summarized. The paper aims at contributing to teachers’ and student-teachers’ understanding of communicative language teaching methodology and at helping to provide a practical framework for the implementation of the task-based approach. 17 pages; 37 footnotes; 24 bibliographic sources. 4,479 words.
