A feminist sociological perspective is used to explain the problem of prostitution. It is noted that feminists are divided over this issue; some see "sex work" as a women's right, while others see prostitution as a form of patriarchal oppression. However, both sides agree that there is a need to stop prosecuting women who engage in prostitution; instead more emphasis should be placed on enforcing the laws that protect women from male abuse. 6 pages, 11 footnotes, 5 bibliographic sources.
