A political and social analysis of the 1969 Woodstock festival and the subsequent documentary film. Argues that while Woodstock was not organized as a political event, and although the filmmakers were not trying to send a political message with their film, Woodstock remains a seminal political symbol of the heyday of the peace and love, or "hippie" movement. 10 pages, 12 footnotes, 3 bibliographic references.
