| 18231. ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT (COMPARING NOVEL TO MOVIE). This paper compares the 1929 novel (by Erich Maria Remarque) with the 1930 movie based on the novel (directed by Lewis Milestone). Although the movie version differs from the novel in certain ways, both versions are successful in expressing an antiwar theme and in using “impressionistic” techniques to create a moving experience. The book does this through the use of vivid descriptions and imagery and the movie does it through the use of sounds and images. KEYWORDS: literature film war. MLA Style. 6p., 15f., 6b. | $42 |
