| 17956. WAL-MART, 2005 CASE STUDY 705460. This paper provides a 14-point action research model case analysis and solution to a popular Harvard Business School case study (705460) by David Yoffie and Barbara Mack on Wal-mart in 2005. The case focuses on the problem of a company-wide decline in the year-to-year net sales increase and concomitant slowing of growth of comparable store sales. The analysis looks at how Wal-mart can improve its competitiveness in the maturing, domestic retail market and how the company can adapt its business model to better suit the needs and cultures of foreign markets. The analysis follows the 14-point model discussing positive and negative symptoms, causes, decision makers, problem questions, objectives, items for research, assumptions, limitations, alternatives, decision rules, expected outcomes and probabilities, decision, implementing plan, and control system plan.
