| 17148. TOTAL QUALITY MANAGEMENT (TQM) AND ORGANIZATIONAL CHANGE. This paper looks at the connection between Total Quality Management (TQM) and organizational change in contemporary management practice. The paper begins with a discussion of the definition and history of TQM (including the recent TQM comeback) and an overview of the types of organizations using TQM. It is argued that widespread organizational change has always been an underlying assumption of the TQM process. When successfully implemented, TQM can help companies adapt to rapidly changing environments and serve as a facilitator for more radical internal changes (such as those related to reengineering) as well as an enabling factor in the development of a climate of sustainable continuous improvement and innovation. Keywords: change quality reengineering management. Written 2003. 15 pages; 62 footnotes; 28 bibliographic sources. 4,163 words. | $105 |
