This paper provides a review and critique of Foner’s condensed version of his history of the post-Civil War reconstruction (the longer work was published under the title, Reconstruction: America’s Unfinished Revolution). The paper summarizes the work and its central arguments. Although short, this book is found to be informative and authoritative. Concludes that the greatest strength of Foner’s book is found in the insights he provides regarding the Black experience during Reconstruction.
