| 14222. CASE STUDY: BURGER KING’S BATTLE FOR THE BURGER. This paper provides an analysis and a case solution to a case study focusing on strategic challenges for Burger King in the mid-1980s. In a market increasingly approaching saturation, in a climate of changing consumer tastes, and in an industry facing rising costs and serious labor shortages, Burger King must define a strategy which will enable it if not to best, at least to gain some ground on, its chief burger competitor and the industry leader, McDonald's. Analyzes significant factors in the external environment (economy, market saturation, labor, consumer tastes, competition) as well as in Burger King’s internal environment (product positioning, strengths and weaknesses, organizational factors).
